• Reminders: 50th Anniversary Jubilee and Call for At-large Applicants

  The Pacific Palisades Community Council is hosting its 50th Anniversary Jubilee and Community Celebration on Saturday, September 30 from noon to 4 PM at Simon Meadow, featuring local organizations, elected officials, food, music, and awards. The deadline to apply for Area Eight and At-Large 2nd Alternate board positions is Sunday, September 24 at 5 PM.

  

• Request for Audit of STAP Program

  Multiple Westside neighborhood councils, including Pacific Palisades Community Council, adopted a motion in 2023 requesting that the City Controller and CAO audit the STAP program's revenues and expenditures under new contractor Tranzito-Vector due to concerns about the program's status and management. The motion was formally proposed in February 2023 and adopted by WRAC in May 2023.

  

• Request re RSO Housing Replacements

  A motion proposed on February 20, 2023 requests that the Los Angeles Housing Department presume all RSO units demolished under the Ellis Act are inhabited by low-income households and require 100% of replacement units to be rented at corresponding low-income rates, with alternative income verification methods for elderly, disabled, or undocumented tenants. The motion failed to be adopted by a majority of councils before the September 2023 deadline but was passed by five neighborhood councils including Bel Air-Beverly Crest, Palms, West LA-Sawtelle, Westside, and Westwood.

The organization is seeking underwriting sponsorships and promoting a wine fundraiser to support the event and its charitable mission.

  

• Support for Director’s Determination re Murphy Drill Site

  Multiple Westside neighborhood councils, including Pacific Palisades Community Council, passed a motion supporting the City of Los Angeles's February 28, 2023 Letter of Determination that imposed additional conditions on the Murphy Oil Drill Site in West Adams to protect residents from pollution and noise, in response to an operator appeal filed in March 2023. The motion calls on the City to uphold the determination and urges member councils to submit comment letters to the South LA Area Planning Commission before the postponed appeal hearing.

  

• Support for Position re Ordinance 187427 (Speed Limit Reductions)

  This document outlines a position of support for Ordinance 187427 regarding speed limit reductions, proposed by Matt Wersinger and WRAC MTC in July 2022 and formally adopted by WRAC in January 2023.
