Dear Palisades Community:
As most of you know, the evacuation order for the Palisades has been lifted. Yesterday, Councilmember Mike Bonin sent out the message below.
Please note that Palisades High will remain closed today, Thursday, October 31, and buses will not be running; classes will resume on Friday, November 1. The other LAUSD schools in the Palisades area (Revere Middle and Canyon, Marquez & Palisades Elementary)
will
be open today. Check with independent schools as to their schedules.
We again gratefully thank our firefighters, police and all other first responders for protecting us during the frightening Getty Fire -- and everyday!

Dear Friends,
The Los Angeles Fire Department has just announced that they are rolling back MOST (but not all) of the evacuation area for the Getty Fire.
"Effective October 30, 2019 at 5:00PM, All Mandatory Evacuation orders and Warnings are lifted with the exception of the areas between:
West border: Kenter Ave
South border: Sunset Blvd
North border: Area just south of Mountain Gate Ave
East border: Area adjacent to 405 FWY and Sepulveda Blvd.

"Simply visit the link and enter an address in the search field in the upper right corner of the map and press enter. Red indicates the area is still closed and unsafe to return.
"The Fire Incident Command continues to monitor the affected fire areas, as well as those areas remaining closed due to critical infrastructure concerns or safety hazards.
"The Los Angeles Police Department has a strong presence in the repopulated and evacuated areas for the next several days to ensure the protection of our residents and their property.
"Information and tips regarding returning home after an evacuation can be found at www.mysafela.org/recovery/

REMINDERS
If you are in or returning to an “evacuation warning” area, please be prepared to leave, and pay attention to the news and emergency alerts.
The Westwood and Palisades Recreation Centers remain open 24 hours for any residents still in the mandatory evacuation order who are seeking shelter. Small animals are welcome in the Recreation Centers, and pets can also be sheltered at the WLA Animal Shelter. Very large animals can be sheltered at the Hansen Dam Horse Park.

Be prepared to leave quickly. If a wildfire threatens your neighborhood, act immediately. Back your vehicle into the driveway with the hood (front) facing the street. Next, roll up the windows, and load your vehicle with everything you want to take with you. Make certain your valuables are either in your vehicle or are safely stored in a (fireproof) safe.
Leave early if LAFD issues a voluntary evacuation. Shelter in place if LAFD recommends sheltering in place.
Red Flag warnings are in effect due to the hazardous wind conditions. Please observe all posted parking restrictions to ensure emergency vehicles can reach emergencies quickly.
Leave immediately when a mandatory evacuation is ordered by LAFD or other authorities
Please do not use fire roads unless directed to do so specifically by LAFD or proper authorities. During last Monday’s Palisades fire, some people used a fire road and drove into an evaluation area, putting themselves and first responders at risk.
When evacuation orders are lifted, please be patient with our first responders. LAFD and LAPD will establish escorts and there will still be firefighters and police officers in the area with equipment. The pace of returns to evacuation areas is dictated by the need to keeping you, your family, and first responders safe.
